Photo: PA A Coldplay fan couldn’t believe her luck after Chris Martin kindly gifted her tickets to see his band in Croke Park when she randomly bumped into him after being scammed out of €400.

The group are set to play four sold-out gigs as part of their Music of the Spheres world tour – their first time playing in Ireland since 2017. Tickets for all four nights at Croke Park have long been sold out since they went on sale last year. But ahead of their first night in Croker, frontman Chris decided to take a stroll around Dún Laoghaire, where he bumped into a few fans.

Killiney woman Rachel Robertson was among the Coldplay lovers who met him along the pier with her pal Ayla. Rachel was over the moon to meet the superstar as she had just been scammed out of €400 after trying to purchase tickets to one of their gigs on social media. Speaking to Graham and Nathan on FM104, Rachel recalled her run-in with the Viva La Vida singer.

"Basically, yesterday I got scammed stupidly on Facebook, it was a very good scam; a friend of a friend's Facebook was hacked so I thought it was pretty legit, but obviously the hackers got me, and I lost €400 in the end," she explained. “I just went down the pier for a stroll with one of the girls and Ayla spotted Chris Martin; he was just walking towards us, .
