This figure represents 15% of the total number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year. With the overall goal of reaching two million tourists by the end of 2024, the Maldives has already welcomed 1.

3 million visitors. To meet this target, an additional 700,000 tourists will need to arrive in the remaining four months of the year. However, the first week of September experienced a slight 3% drop compared to the same period in 2023, with an average of 3,900 daily arrivals so far this month. The Maldivian government is conducting special campaigns to attract more visitors from India, which had the highest tourist count in 2023. So far, 83,000 Indian tourists have visited the Maldives in 2024, and the government is actively working to boost this number, aiming to place India among the top three countries for tourist arrivals by the year’s end.
