Pune: Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday, addressing women at a rally in Maval, said there was no divine intervention in childbirth and they give birth because of their husbands . Pawar addressed party supporters on Friday when the party's Jan Sanman rally reached Maval and Pimpri Chinchwad. While listing the schemes the Mahayuti govt has floated, Pawar told women in the crowd to keep their families small, no more than two children, to get better govt benefits.

Pawar said, "When you give birth, it does not happen by the grace of God but due to your husband. There is no divine intervention. I request women from all religions and castes to stop at a maximum of two children.

If you keep your family size small, you will be able to raise your children better, give them more attention and provide them better education. Your children and you can live a better life." During his speech on Friday, Pawar said statements about taking back the Mukhyamantri Mazhi Ladki Bahin Yojana money were baseless.

“I want to assure each of you that such a step is not possible. Money given to beneficiaries will never be taken back," he said. Mahayuti's partner MLA Ravi Rana recently made a statement about taking back the scheme’s money if women do not vote for Mahayuti alliance candidates.
