Pune: The Khadki police on Wednesday night registered a case of child marriage and rape against six people for allegedly marrying off a 17-year-old girl in March. The case has been registered against the minor girl 's mother, father, two grandmothers, husband (24) and her father-in-law. Senior inspector Satish Jagdale of the Khadki police said, "The girl stays in Yerawada with her brother and mother, a casual worker.

" He said, "Her grandmothers stay in Bopodi, off Pune-Mumbai highway. On March 3, her grandmothers called her to Bopodi, where the to-be-groom and his family members were present. The girl's mother and the two grandmothers had arranged the programme.

" Jagdale said, "The girl was thereafter married off by her mother, grandmothers and others by arranging a wedding ceremony in Khed. Her husband established a physical relationship with her after marriage despite knowing that she was a minor." He said, "The girl fled the house of her husband in the first week of August and reached Yerawada.

Following this, she lodged a complaint with the Khed police. It was forwarded to the Khadki police on Wednesday for further probe." Jagdale says, "The girl's father stays separately in Pimple Gurav and he was not invited to the wedding.

But he went to Khed after coming to know about it. Then he performed all his duties as a father in the wedding ceremony.".
