The Kansas City Chiefs have already added Josh Uche and DeAndre Hopkins before the trade deadline. They could look to make another big trade as they chase the first-ever three-peat in National Football League history. While listing players the Chiefs could still trade for, FanSided's Lior Lampert urged the team to swing a blockbuster trade for Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker.
"Arizona Cardinals defensive heart and soul Budda Baker may become expendable if the team chooses to sell ahead of the deadline," wrote Lampert. "While safety is generally a position that's viewed as more of a luxury than a necessity, it's one the Chiefs can afford." Baker signed a four-year, $59 million extension with the Cardinals in 2020.
He is a two-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler. He could drastically change the backend of the Chiefs' defense. "Bryan Cook has done a fine job holding down the back end of the Chiefs' secondary opposite Justin Reid," wrote Lampert.
"But Baker would be an instant upgrade to the former and offers positional versatility to play both safety spots." The Cardinals are 4-34 in first place in the NFC West. There is no indication that they could be looking to sell before the November 5 deadline.
However, the Chiefs could jump in and make an adequate offer. "Baker may not fetch more than a Day 3 draft choice. As an aging defensive back on an expiring contract, there aren't many suitors lining up to give up considerable assets for him.
