Login While exotic sports cars and hypercars are still doing well, the rest are struggling in a changing market, and revered models such as the Audi TT and Mercedes SLK have recently disappeared. For many buyers (and makers), the high-powered SUV has become the new sports car.

One machine is bucking the trend: the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray . In its latest, eighth-generation form, it is mid-engined, making it a quarter-priced Ferrari in its homeland. Priced from $175,000 in Australia, it’s about a third the price of an F8 Tributo (and probably less if you measure the local Corvette’s standard equipment against the more leanly equipped Ferrari’s options list).
