In a rather candid compliment, singer Charli XCX has cheekily designated US Vice President Kamala Harris as a "brat". The 31-year-old artist displayed her support for the 59 year old's presidential campaign shortly following US President Joe Biden , 81, confirming he was withdrawing from the race to the White House due to contracting Covid. Following Biden's announcement that he was "giving full endorsement and support to Kamala's nomination for our party", Charli posted on X: "Kamala IS brat.
" The comment is a playful nod to her latest album, which launched on 7 June. Soon after the post, Kamala's official campaign capitalised on the endorsement by adapting its banner on X to mirror the style of Charli's "brat" album cover. In response, the banner was modified to display "kamala hq" in lowercase black font against a vibrant lime green backdrop.
Providing an explanation into her unique use of the term "brat", Charli, whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison, shared a video on TikTok where she said: "You're just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes." She continued, declaring a "brat" as someone "Who feels herself but maybe also has a breakdown. But kind of like parties through it, is very honest, very blunt.
