When South Carolina's Upstate and North Carolina regions were devastated by Hurricane Helene, family pub Dog and Duck, alongside many other local businesses, took a stand. Local businesses covering the Charleston area have rallied to gather donations and funds to help support the Carolinas' storm victims. Many of these businesses have reached out to the community via social media pages.

Dog and Duck has uploaded a post to their Instagram page, @eatatdogandduck, to enlist the help of Lowcountry locals, asking for those wishing to help to bring in water, nonperishable food, batteries, baby food and more. A post shared by Dog and Duck Family Pubs (@eatatdogandduck) The initiative was spearheaded by Asheville, N.C.

, native Anna Chiles and Dog and Duck owner Alli Bradley. "Alli and Dog and Duck's facilities have been instrumental in collecting these supplies," Chiles told The Post and Courier. The pub's full support, paired with Chiles' hometown connections, is enabling their initiative to supply North Carolina's victims with specific items required.

Chiles said Facebook has proven itself to be a very powerful tool in communicating with her family, friends and community in Asheville. In a dire situation where downed telephone lines made contact scarce, social media managed to keep people connected in order to communicate their needs. Family pub Dog and Duck is proving itself to be more than the beloved community staple we know it to be.

Lowcountry businesses have also communicated.
