Changanassery: The rich aroma of coffee and masala dosa is set to make a comeback to the same seats, but with a new flavour. A group of five friends, bonded over their love for the Indian Coffee House (ICH) in Changanassery , are reviving the space where the iconic eatery once stood near Kurishumoodu Junction. This collective – Linu Job, Roy Jose, Jomin Kainikkara, Dayi Mathew, and Soji Thomas – has shared not just the meals at the ICH but also a friendship strengthened through their WhatsApp group, ‘Kurishumoodu Coffee House Souhruda Koottayma.

’ With the ICH permanently closing its doors, a cherished hangout in Changanassery has now vanished. Many of its loyal customers even had their go-to spots where they spent hours in lively conversation, indulging in the classic recipes. It was this loss of a familiar and comforting space that inspired the five friends to take on a new mission.

The collective took over the building where ICH operated on Monday and plans to open their restaurant within a month. The menu will feature dishes prepared by Malayali chefs, and a fresh chapter is all set to begin, keeping the spirit of camaraderie alive. ICH had originally moved from its location near the Changanassery KSRTC bus station and had been serving its loyal customers at Kurishumoodu Junction for the past seven years.

However, the restaurant had to serve its final order last week due to financial difficulties..
