You’re being asked to fill them up with non-perishable food items and put them back out this Saturday, September 21. Volunteers will be collecting your donations as part of the 14th Annual BC Thanksgiving Food Drive.

It’s one of two major fundraisers for the Central Okanagan Food Bank this month. The 4th Annual “Bake the World a Better Place” pie sale takes place from September 16 to September 30 on the COFB website . One-of-a-kind pie creations from renowned chefs from across the Okanagan will be available for purchase.

The lucky bidders will be able to pick up their pies in time for Thanksgiving. This year, Quails’ Gate Winery in West Kelowna has partnered with the food bank to supply and sell pie bundles with wine. It will also be the point for pick.

The money raised will help ensures that those facing food insecurity receive a holiday hamper in the coming months. “It serves our hearts well to know that our community is benefiting from our love of good food,” says Georgia Wiggins, corporate fundraising coordinator of the COFB. “And as the saying goes, beauty is in the 'pie' of the beholder.

” Trevor Moss, COFB executive director, says regardless of lowering inflation, it is still going to take time for many families and individuals’ situations to stabilize. “We see that as we continue to have new people signing up for our services.” Moss adds .
