While talking to the dating experts on the show, the Gogglebox star, 53, also opened up about his fears of being 'abandoned' and how he had been 'quietly quitting' his own marriage. The TV star explained that his abandonment fears came after his dad left his mum when he was young.

Stephen grew up with his mum, brother and three sisters but tragically his brother, Paul died at the age of 32 of a heroin overdose. Opening up about his childhood, Stephen told the experts: "My dad left my mum on her own to bring up us five kids." Paul Carrick Brunson asked if he felt pressure when his dad left, to which Stephen replied: "Tonnes.

" He continued: "And especially at the age of around 30 my brother passed away and that meant I was the only boy with three sisters. "I felt a lot like I was doing my dad's job." Stephen is taking part in the Channel 4 dating show following the end of his six-year marriage with his fellow hair stylist husband Daniel Lustig.

The couple decided to part ways last year and announced the news in April, six years after tying the knot at the majestic Chateau de Lisse in Lot-et-Garonne, France.
