THE Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and the International Cooperative Research Group (ICRG) sealed its partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Aug. 5, 2024 for the rollout of the Cooperative Business Continuity Resilience (CBCR) tool for cooperatives nationwide. The CBCR tool — as supported by the United States Agency for International Development or USAid funding — would serve as an educational instrument and member engagement mechanism for cooperative leaders and members to assess their preparedness for responding to and continuing operations during periods of external shock as stated in the ICRG website. Prior to the rollout of the tool, identified CDA personnel should undergo a Training of Trainers or ToT to be conducted jointly by the CDA and ICRG.The ICRG should also extend its assistance to CDA in crafting a standardized business continuity plan for cooperatives. The partnership would be in effect for at least 3 years from signing of the MoU.The ICRG has been the research arm of the US Overseas Cooperative Development Council that has been collaborating, partnering and cocreating with local researchers and cooperative development stakeholders.
