Warning: The following article contains discussion of sexual abuse. Casualty viewers were left feeling heartbroken for Cam Mickelthwaite (Barney Walsh) on Saturday evening (August 24) as the BBC drama aired the shock death of Jamie Cleveland (Ryan Hawley). During recent episodes of the medical series, Cam has had to confront his past when his former mentor Jamie joined the hospital at Holby.

He also reconnected with old friend Bobby, who accused Jamie of sexually abusing him as a child and Cam eventually admitted to Siobhan McKenzie (Melanie Hill) that he too suffered abuse. In the latest episode, Iain Dean (Michael Stevenson) and the emergency team tackled a car crash incident where a vehicle had plunged down a steep gorge days earlier. Rich Walker (Michael Keogh) reported no signs of life from the driver, later identified as Jamie, but Iain managed to find a pulse.

Upon learning that Jamie was being rushed into the ED, Siobhan informed Cam, advising him to maintain his distance. However, Cam insisted on helping and stepped in when Jodie Whyte (Anna Chell) had to depart the emergency room. During one scene, emotional Cam found himself alone with Jamie and seized the chance to ask about the incident.

Jamie revealed that Bobby had forced him off the road, a confession overheard by Dylan Keogh (William Beck). Cam confronted Jamie about his childhood sexual abuse, demanding answers. However, Jamie remained silent, leaving Cam devastated.

Cam told Jamie he was about to die and no.
