Pune: Some people on Monday afternoon broke into a 34-year-old grocer 's bungalow in Narayangaon and stole gold jewellery and cash , collectively worth Rs10 lakh. The theft occurred when the complainant and his family were away for Raksha Bandhan. The trader on Tuesday filed a complaint with the Narayangaon police.

An officer from the Narayangaon police said that the complainant and his wife left home at around 11:45am on Monday. Hi mother was away too, but the complainant’s father was still at home. “After half an hour, the complainant's father locked the house and went to their shop.

When the complainant’s mother returned home in the evening, she found that the lock of the main door was broken and everything in the cupboards was scattered,” the officer said. He said the complainant reached home by night and found that the gold jewellery worth Rs9.30 lakh and cash worth Rs83,000 were stolen from the three cupboards in their house.

“We have registered a case and collected CCTV footage from different locations in Narayangaon to trace the suspects,” the officer said.
