The Carroll High volleyball team had one opponent to beat this past Saturday, but could not get over Newell-Fonda in each of their matchups to finish the day as runner-up at the Carroll Tournament. Also competing in the tournament was IKM-Manning and South Central Calhoun.

The Wolves showed some fight at the end, taking sets from Newell-Fonda and Fort Dodge, but finished 0-3 in the tournament. The Titans found more success, finished 2-2, but were matched up with the eventual winner in the semifinal round. Despite falling 2-0 to Newell-Fonda in the semifinals, SCC did push the Mustangs in both sets.

Pool play was successful for the Tigers, as they picked up wins over IKM-Manning and Fort Dodge, both ending 2-0. IKM-Manning did push Carroll High in the first set, as the Wolves tended to do, but the Tigers came out on top 21-16 before wrapping it up with a 21-11 win in the second set. The match against Fort Dodge was closer in each set, as the Tigers won both 21-16.

They would meet their match in the last round of pool play, as they took on Newell-Fonda. Carroll High took a set against the Mustangs, winning the second 21-11, but Newell-Fonda started and finished strong. The Mustangs took set one 21-18 and set three 15-11.

With how close Carroll High and Newell-Fonda fought, it was almost written in the cards that they would mee.
