Wednesday, November 20, 2024 The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has proudly announced the winners and finalists of the 2024 Caribbean Hotel Industry Exchange Forum (CHIEF) Awards. The awards were revealed during the annual forum held in Miami from November 18-20, celebrating outstanding achievements across key categories in the Caribbean hospitality industry. The CHIEF Awards honor excellence among CHTA member hotels and tourism enterprises in five pivotal areas: Environmental Sustainability, Innovative Sales and Marketing, People Development and Support, Social Responsibility, and Technological Transformation.
Ti Kaye Resort & Spa claimed the top prize in Environmental Sustainability for its comprehensive green initiatives. The resort expanded its solar energy capacity, aimed to cut fossil fuel electricity use by 50%, transitioned to LED lighting, and bolstered its composting program. The Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) was recognized as a finalist for its impactful efforts to mitigate plastic pollution by assisting member hotels in managing plastic waste and organizing its collection for proper disposal.
The Rockley by Ocean Hotels Barbados secured the first-place award in Innovative Sales and Marketing. The resort creatively integrated local culture and artistry into its revamped design, collaborating with local artisans to deliver an authentic Bajan experience. Bolongo Bay Beach Resort earned finalist recognition for its effective use of TikTo.
