Carl Junction claimed the first set in a Monday night matchup with Webb City on the volleyball court at CJHS. The opening set went extra points as it required a 30-28 final for the Bulldogs (20-2) to get out to a 1-0 lead. Webb City (21-5-1) bounced back in convincing fashion with a 25-9 victory in set two.

That catapulted the Cardinals to a four-set win and scores of 29-27 and 27-25 in the last two sets. That's what you would expect from two top 10 volleyball teams inside Class 4 as three of the four sets were forced into extra points before a winner was decided. Both of CJ's losses came against Webb City this year.

The Cardinals got double-digit kills from three hitters on Monday night as junior Jaeli Rutledge tallied 20, sophomore Jaylee Van Becelaere had 13 and Mia Lenker added 12 more. Rutledge led the team with an attack percentage of .450.

She had 40 total attacks and just two errors. Her four blocks were a team high. Junior setter Savannah Crane registered 48 assists on the team's 59 kills.

Crane also led the squad with three service aces. Twenty-one digs from Avery Gardner was a team high and Kirra Long picked up 18 of her own. The Cardinals were back in action on Tuesday night hosting Parkview (2-18-1).
