Vadodara: Sayajigunj police station responded to a complaint against the MS University ( MSU ) vice-chancellor (VC) for furnishing false details on his resume and application for the post of VC , saying it can’t register an offence as the matter is pending before the Gujarat high court. This was the response sent by the police station to the application filed by MSU professor Satish Pathak. The professor had earlier moved the high court, challenging the appointment of VC Vijay Kumar Srivastava as he did not fulfil the eligibility criteria set down by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Pathak also submitted an application on Aug 14 to Sayajigunj police, seeking that an offence should be registered against Srivastava for providing false details and suspect documents for his appointment. The police station sent its reply on Aug 15. Pathak responded to Sayajigunj police saying his complaint against Srivastava had nothing to do with the matter pending in the high court.

He said his petition in the high court is limited to challenging Srivastava’s appointment as VC.
