Thursday, August 22, 2024 The Government of Canada is committed to fostering inclusive growth and business diversification, which are vital for economic development in Quebec’s regions. Today, Sophie Chatel, Member of Parliament for Pontiac, announced on behalf of the Honourable Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for CED, a repayable contribution of $99,325 to Chalets Prunella. This support, provided through CED’s new tailored funding approach for Quebec’s economically vulnerable regional county municipalities (RCMs), will enable the business to expand its tourism offerings.

Located in a vast forest near Lac Johnson, Chalets Prunella features four high-end accommodation units on a 75-acre property in Thorne (Ladysmith). To sustain its growth and increase its number of units while introducing a new attraction (a thermal experience), this women-owned start-up will use the CED assistance to build three new mini-cottages and a thermal therapy area. This project will help address the shortage of quality tourism accommodations in a struggling community.

The Government of Canada recognizes and supports businesses and organizations that are pillars of their communities. Quebec’s economic growth depends on organizations with strong regional ties, as they are crucial in building a sustainable and inclusive economy. Given that Quebec’s regions have varying assets and challenges, it’s important to tailor support to their specific economic de.
