That’s the question the American lingerie mega-brand Victoria’s Secret tried to answer with a suitably mega show in New York on Tuesday night, its first since 2018. To be clear, it was mega in the sense of its ambition. The rest is up for discussion.
For six years, the world’s most famous — and publicity hungry — lingerie brand has been hiding in plain sight, in retreat from #MeToo accusations. There had been no expense spared when it came to the comeback. Among the 50-strong model line-up there were old hands — and preposterously young-looking bodies — such as Kate Moss, 50, Carla Bruni, 56, Eva Herzigova, 51, and Tyra Banks, 50.
Also giving it her all was Adriana Lima, 43, the Brazilian supermodel who was declared, back in the parallel universe that was 2017, “the most valuable Victoria’s Secret Angel”..
