Sunday, February 2, 2025 Starting on February 19, a new airline route will connect Hong Kong with Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, offering a faster and more affordable travel option for passengers. The flight will take around eight hours, with a layover at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport in Sichuan province, mainland China. This new service, operated by Tibet Airlines, is expected to make travel between the two locations much quicker and more accessible for travelers.
Route and Schedule Details The newly introduced service will operate twice a week, with flights departing from Hong Kong every Wednesday and Sunday at 3:45 PM. The flight will arrive at Lhasa Gonggar Airport at 11:30 PM, following a brief stopover in Chengdu. Similarly, flights from Lhasa will leave every Wednesday and Sunday at 8:10 AM, reaching Hong Kong by 2:35 PM, with the same layover in Chengdu.
This new route promises to shorten the time it takes to travel between Hong Kong and Tibet significantly. Prior to this, trips between the two cities were either longer or more expensive, which made it difficult for many travelers to reach the Tibetan region. Now, with more affordable prices and a reduced travel time, this new service will encourage more people to visit Tibet, potentially boosting the region’s tourism industry.
Pricing and Travel Accessibility A return ticket on the new route can cost as little as 1,310 yuan (approximately US$182), although this price does not include tax or in-flight meals. Th.
