MUMBAI: Mumbai University has issued a circular prohibiting organisations or individuals from holding any meeting , agitation , protest march , hunger strike or any such event on their campuses without prior permission from the administration, reports . Failure to comply with this norm could lead to legal action, added the circular passed by the university's vigilance and disaster management cell. While the circular mentioned the decision was taken for security reasons and to prevent any untoward incident on campuses, it has met with severe backlash from students' organisations, which demanded immediate withdrawal of the "authoritarian" order.
