(CNN) — A second farmworker in California has tested positive for H5N1 bird flu, just hours after the state announced its first presumptive positive case in a human. Both workers’ specimens have been submitted to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for confirmatory testing, according to the California Department of Public Health . Health officials say the second case appears to be unrelated to the first.

The person worked on a different dairy farm in California’s Central Valley. Both farms had cattle that were known to be positive for H5N1 avian influenza. Javascript is required for you to be able to read premium content.
