Wavecrest Café at Lizard Point has once again been recognised by the Prestige Awards , which named it ‘Café of the Year, Cornwall’ for 2024/25. It is a significant honour for the café, run by Gary and Victoria Pollard with their family. Describing the family as “absolutely delighted” to have been awarded Café of the Year for the second year in succession, Gary said: “Thank you to all our team for their continued hard work and of course our wonderful loyal customers.

“It was noticed by a leading independent panel of judges our dedication to delivering great food and outstanding customer service!” READ NEXT: Your chance to take over cafe with strong local following Gary and Victoria took over the cafe at the UK’s most southerly point in March last year. Their first year was a true family affair, with their eldest daughter Jasmine taking on the role of manager, middle daughter Poppy waiting tables, and their youngest, Summer-Rose, holding arguably the most important job as official ice cream taster. To win the award Wavecrest was whittled down from all the entries to a shortlist, before receiving a ‘mystery visit’ by an independent judge.

And this is not the only honour for the café so far this year. Wavecrest has also been named a finalist in the 2024/25 Cor.
