The Caddo Parish School Board meets at Caddo Parish Public Schools Central Office in Shreveport, La., Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Facebook Twitter WhatsApp SMS Email Print Copy article link Save The Caddo Parish School Board considered on Tuesday approving revisions to the district's discipline policy.
Because of a change in Louisiana law, school districts must revise their policy guidelines. The revision would state: "Taping or threatening to tape a student's mouth shut or otherwise restricting his or her airway in any manner is prohibited regardless of parental consent." In April 2022 in Lacombe near Slidell, a pastor was accused of mistreating juveniles and taping the mouths of three 13-year-old students at Lakeside Christian Academy.
The district approved a new cell phone policy that was revised back in July and put into action immediately to all K-12 schools in Louisiana. The CPSB already made revisions to their policy guidelines. They will vote on the latest revisions at the next board meeting on Tuesday.
