Thugs, burglars and a scheming husband who conspired to kill his own wife have been jailed this month. Nine men were given prison sentences in July including a 20-year-old who stamped on a woman's head. Another spat at hospital guards and threatened nurses who tried to help him.

Robert Mansbridge and Craig Preston Robert Mansbridge, left, and Craig Preston (Image: Sussex Police) Robert Mansbridge was a gardener at a house in Lindfield near Haywards Heath for 25 years, but together with accomplice Craig Preston he stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and personal items in May 2023. But just a day after their crime, both were arrested after being found in a car with a large amount of the goods.

Preston, 42, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to the burglary while Mansbridge, 52, also of no fixed abode, was found guilty after a four-day trial. They were sentenced to three and four years in prison respectively. The two men entered the restaurant stealing multiple items including bank cards and cash. Brackpool, 22, of no fixed abode admitted the burglary and was jailed for 42 weeks. O’Dwyer, 37, of Eastbourne Road in Halland, also pleaded guilty and was handed a suspended sentence.
