The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has shared a recall for two plastic chairs sold from the brand Simpa.

Both chairs were sold online from Amazon and B&Q Marketplace. The recall covers the Simpa White Chair Base with a fabric cushion seat and also the Simpa Eiffel Inspired Dining Chair with a patchwork seat base. The chairs were found to pose a "medium" risk as they are "prone to setting on fire" if exposed to a naked flame.

Both chairs, which were sold prior to September 30, 2023, have been recalled as they did not pass the fire safety test. This means that they do not meet the requirements of The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988. They pose a danger to your home as the cover of the seat base could catch fire and melt, allowing the internal filling to also ignite and continue to flame.

It was also discovered that improvements to the marking and labelling were also needed. Due to the serious safety risk, customers have since been advised to "stop using the product immedia.
