Bosses at Middlesbrough's Oven restaurant have told customers their bookings will be fulfilled, days after the eatery was taken over by the landlords. As previously reported, the Oven, on Linthorpe Road, closed suddenly on Wednesday with its doors chained up and a possession notice taped to the front window. A worker at Bazaar confirmed Oven had been closed by the landlords, Pneuma Group, who told Teesside Live alleged issues with the tenancy had led to the "difficult" decision.

The restaurant which opened in October 2015, is run by Tarek Thoma, who is also behind the Bazaar in Captain Cook Square. A post on Oven's Facebook page on Saturday said people who have booked Sunday lunches will be accommodated at Bazaar, which opened in July. The message on Facebook read: "We are absolutely committed to fulfilling all our obligations to guests during this time.
