Boots, a 150-year-old health and beauty giant, is modernising by shutting hundreds of stores to consolidate its presence and save a whopping £618 million. The mass closure plan was unveiled in June 2023. To date, Boots has shuttered 253 out of the 300 stores slated for closure, with the remaining 47 expected to close by the end of summer.

Fashion retailer Next is also set to close a popular store just a few years after it opened. It comes as a crushing blow to locals who have urged shoppers to "support" their local high street. These are all the Next and Boots branches earmarked to close this month, according to the Express .
