Boots and Next, two stalwarts of the UK high street, are set to undergo significant changes. Boots, a household name for health and beauty products, has evolved into an industry giant over its 150-year presence on the high street. However, it's now adjusting to contemporary times by shutting hundreds of branches in a bid to consolidate stores and save £618million.

The strategy for widespread closures was unveiled in June 2023. As it stands, Boots has already closed 253 stores out of the 300 slated for closure soon, leaving 47 expected to shut their doors by the end of summer. Fashion retailer Next has also disclosed plans to close a popular store just a few years after its inauguration.
