Monday, August 26, 2024 A tourism roadshow between Iran and Tajikistan was held at the Tajik embassy in Tehran, following the recent implementation of a visa waiver for air travel between the two nations. The event, conducted on Saturday, showcased the tourism potential of both countries and facilitated the signing of multiple cooperation agreements between travel agencies and airlines from Iran and Tajikistan, aimed at enhancing tourism exchanges. Tajikistan’s ambassador to Tehran, Zohidi Nizomiddin Shamsiddinzoda, highlighted global efforts to develop tourism, emphasizing its role in economic growth, foreign exchange, and the strengthening of international friendships.

The ambassador also noted initiatives by Tajikistan’s President, Emomali Rahmon, to advance the country’s tourism sector, stating that the necessary infrastructure is now in place. The shared linguistic, historical, religious, and cultural ties between Iran and Tajikistan were emphasized, with the ambassador praising the recent visa waiver implemented on August 10 and the launch of flights between Tehran and Dushanbe as a significant first step. The ambassador expressed hopes for extending this visa waiver to all air travelers between the two countries.

Three significant agreements were signed during the roadshow, including the establishment of direct flights from Tajikistan to Tehran and Shiraz, the creation of a literary tourism route, and the organization of a Tajikistan tourism exhibition in collabo.
