Good Morning Britain experienced a frosty moment when Richard Madeley couldn't resist making a quip about guest Bonnie Langford's age, leading to a swift retort from the actress. Bonnie Langford, 59, was on the ITV programme to talk about her new theatre role and a Doctor Who novel she has penned as part of a BBC collaboration. The conversation took an awkward turn after Bonnie expressed her affection for the show.
Richard remarked: "I remember the very first Doctor Who. William Hartnell. It was unbelievable as a programme, and it's had its ups and downs since then.
Personally I think at the moment it's on the up again, do you? What do you think of the new Doctor?" Bonnie replied: "It's fabulous. You know, I was in it once in the 80s, 37 years ago..
." However, Richard interjected with: "Black and white, wasn't it?" while chuckling. Quick to correct him, Bonnie asserted: "No! I'm not that old thank you Richard, I have been born in electric light!" Richard swiftly softened his tone, assuring her: "I know, I tease you, I tease you!" reports the Mirror .
Bonnie was born in 1964 just one year after Doctor Who's debut episode, An Unearthly Child, was broadcast on the BBC. She featured as Melanie in 20 episodes of the beloved sci-fi series from 1986 to 1987 and later returned for the EastEnders crossover special Dimensions in Time in 1993. Earlier, Richard declined a comparison to James Bond star Daniel Craig, sparked by his recent flowing-haired look.
