A Bolton support group for those affected by cancer is celebrating its one-year anniversary. The monthly meet-up, called Bolton 5K Your Way, takes place at Leverhulme Park on the last Saturday of each month at 8.45am.

The group encourages people to exercise and socialise, with attendees able to walk, run, or simply enjoy a chat over a drink in a café. The gathering is part of the nationwide "Move Against Cancer " scheme, which launched the 5K Your Way movement in 2018. This scheme now boasts nearly 90 groups across the UK and Ireland.

The aim is to motivate those living with cancer or who have survived it, along with their families, friends, those who have lost a loved one to cancer, and people working in cancer services, to walk, jog, run, cheer, or volunteer. The group ensures that attendees can participate as much or as little as they want and most choose to walk the route. Every group is led by at least one volunteer 5K Your Way Ambassador, who makes sure "everyone receives a warm welcome".

The Bolton group has witnessed more than 50 attendances since its relaunch.
