The Sunray Bobcat varsity football team is now 5-0 for the 2024 season with an impressive 30-20 victory over the Canadian Wildcats Friday, Sept.27. The Bobcats have had a gauntlet for their preseason schedule and have handled it in impressive, and sometimes-dominant fashion.

The Wildcats took and early 13-0 lead over Sunray, but the bobcats didn’t waiver. They answered with 17 unanswered to take a 17-13. Canadian made thing interesting as time was ticking away in the half with a 7-yard touchdown pass with 18 seconds left for a 20-17 lead.

Sunray’s defense did what it has done all season, shut down the opposing offense, along with six interceptions the high-powered Canadian offense didn’t score again the rest of the game as they Bobcat offense tacked on another 13 points for the 30-20 victory. This marks two weeks in a row that the Bobcat offense didn’t light up the stat sheet, but they did enough to secure a win against a very tough football team, that most experts expected to beat Sunray. Sunray has won in all different ways this season, they lit up the scoreboard and they’ve won tough low scoring games.

Sunray is 5-0 and is the real deal. This may be the season to it all comes together for the Bobcats. Lujan finished the night with 160 passing yards on 17 completions and two touchdowns.
