One helper revealed that an estimated 70 per cent of attendees abandoned their gear, including tents, chairs, and mattresses with some items unused and still boxed up. Images from Watergate Bay depict vast amounts of tents and trash discarded by some of the 58,000 people who attended the festival. Nineteen year old Jay McGillan, who volunteered with Oxfam at the event, expressed his astonishment at the sheer volume of rubbish left. Post-festival, Jay dedicated four hours to gathering tents, pumps, mattresses, and chairs, all seemingly unused.

He described the scene as resembling a "landfill site" due to the abandoned camping equipment. Jay recounted, "There was a big construction team with a massive crane and they worked on them all night. There were bins the size of shipping containers all over the site with diggers constantly filling them.

" He also mentioned his shock upon discovering that many of the abandoned items appeared to be brand new, prompting him to take some home for recycling. Commenter Sarah Baillie says: “The camping fields looked like a huge landfill site when we drove past on Monday afternoon - it was shocking to see the mess left behind by campers. We attended on Saturday and there were plenty of bins around, so no excuses for not disposing of rubbish properly.
