German luxury automaker BMW will officially launch three highly-awaited models today in the Indian market. The new-generation BMW 5 Series, refreshed MINI Cooper S and electrified Countryman E are a part of the lot that will go official in the country alongside the BMW CE 04 electric scooter, which is also a part of the event. The main highlight of the event is the BMW 5 Series, which will make its India debut in a long wheelbase avatar as a direct rival to the Mercedes E-Class LWB.

BMW 5 Series LWB will sport a new design language highlighted by a new illuminated kidney grille, angular headlights, pronounced front bumpers and a technologically advanced interior. The car will be available in the 530Li M Sport variant at the launch. Under the hood, it gets a 2.

0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid technology producing 205 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. The unit will come clubbed to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The new BMW 5 Series is expected to cost around INR 75 lakh (ex-showroom India).

BMW Group will also launch the MINI Cooper 3-door and Countryman Electric alongside the BMW 5 Series. It’s worth noting that MINI unveiled both models globally in September last year. The company commenced bookings for the Cooper S and Countryman Electric across India a few days ago.
