Pune: Two men on a motorcycle snatched two cellphones in separate incidents in a matter of a few minutes including one right in front of the Swargate police station in the wee hours of Tuesday. Rohit Ambike (24), one of the victims, is a resident of Shukrawar Peth. He alighted a private bus at Jedhe Chowk around 1.

25am. The two suspects on the bike drove close to him and the pillion rider snatched his cellphone when he was checking text messages and the suspects sped away. Assistant inspector of the Khadak police Harshal Kadam on Wednesday said, "Ambike chased the duo, but they picked up sped away and turned towards the Swargate police station.

At this point, another victim Akbar Metkari, a Phaltan resident, had reached in front of the police station after alighting from a state transport bus. The duo snatched his phone too at around 1.30am.

" Later, Ambike used a passerby's cellphone and informed the city police control room. He then filed a complaint with the Khadak police and an FIR relating to robbery was registered. Another victim also reached the police station and his complaint was clubbed with Ambike's complaint as the duo involved in both robbery cases are the same.

The investigating officer said Ambike has given a description of the two men. He informed police that they were in the age group of 25 and 30 years and gave the police a four-digit number of a black-red coloured bike.
