While Devdas, the despondent protagonist of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay (and the evergreen tragic icon of the silver screen), may have turned to the bottle to cope with heartbreak, an enterprising youth from Bihar decided to make heartbreak into a profitable venture. The man, who hails from Buxar, Bihar, is the owner of a rather unique tea stall known as ‘ Bewafa Chai Wala ’. In an interview with Local 18 , Chhotu Gupta , the proprietor of the shop, said that he launched the stall in 2023 after suffering a painful heartbreak.
The shop is a hit with the locals. Gupta believes that his shop's success is due to the superior tea that is served there as well as its unusual moniker. Additionally, he disclosed that he offers four distinct flavors of tea and sells about 1,000 cups daily.
Pocket Pinch One of the factors behind the stall’s booming business is undoubtedly the affordable prices. The price range for a cup of piping hot tea ranges from Rs 10 to Rs 25 at ‘Bewafa Chai Wala’. The shop is open from 6 AM to 11 AM and from 4 PM to midnight.
Chhotu Gupta says that his tea's speciality is that it is prepared over a slow coal heat, which gives the tea a distinct flavor and unique fragrance.
