No one likes being between anything: jobs, lovers, the latest Emily in Paris instalment. It's a bit of a buzzkill. So is being between seasons: a style semi-colon connecting us to our next six-month fashion fix.

Although wardrobe refreshers are nice to have, the beauty of being between seasons is not having to make a new purchase. Summer's ballet flats, colourful trainers (expect Nike to have a moment), and waistcoats translate well into the cooler months, as does the Gen Z favourite – wide-leg jeans, especially in raw denim. Print-wise: stalwart stripes, leopard print, and checks also provide a canny cost-per-wear ratio.
