With Christmas less than two weeks away, the festive party season is well underway - and the celebrations were in full swing in Liverpool city centre last night. The final Fridays in the run-up to Christmas are always busy with many office workers enjoying their festive nights out after they finish their shifts for the day. Plenty of people headed out to Liverpool's bars , pubs and restaurants to celebrate last night.

This year's "Mad Friday" takes place on Friday, December 20, which means for some, it'll only be a matter of a few days to recover before Christmas Day. For that reason, many workplaces and social events took place a week earlier this year on Friday, December 13. And Liverpool was no exception to the new arrangement.

As the night unfolded in the capital's city centre, a sea of Christmas party-goers flooded the streets with many bedecked in glittering and festive attire. Here are some of our favourite photos from a night of festive fun in Liverpool city centre.
