EUCLID, Ohio – Most foodies have a favorite place that captures their heart, stomach and imagination. This may be a “blink and you’ll miss it” spot – cozy, diminutive, word-of-mouth popular – where Old World traditions and family recipes reign. Wojtila’s Bakery in Euclid is such a place.

It’s a family affair, a cultural heritage beacon for the East Side – just the way founders Don and Barb Wojtila had hoped. Today, son Donny (with help from sisters Mary and Chrissy) carries the torch. Wojita family (Barb (mom), sister Chrissy (Wojtila) Aurich, Donny, Don and sister Mary (Wojtila) Harris Wojtila’s Bakery is located at 897 E.

Origin story Don and Barb opened their baking business in September 1993, after Don had spent many years working in various bakeries and kitchens on the east side. “I wasn’t one for college,” the patriarch told Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer in a recent interview.

“My uncle worked at Fisher Foods back in the day, which turned into Fazio’s and I started my career there and learned a lot.” All sorts of treats can be found at Wojtila’s Bakery which is located at 897 E. 222nd St.
