Arizona State football is playing the disrespect card in these College Football Playoffs. Nothing is more tiring than the disrespect card, but let’s cut the Sun Devils some slack. Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean everybody’s not out to get you.

Of course, the Sun Devils signed up for disrespect. They joined the Big 12 Conference. I mean, ASU joined kicking and screaming, but still.

And to the Sun Devils’ credit, they not only joined the league that wouldn’t die, but they won the conference championship in Year 1. Among Pac-12 refugees, Arizona State president Michael Crow was the last holdout in pledging to the Big 12. Arizona and Colorado were quick to the party, and we much appreciate it here in Middle America.

Utah held out, hoping for a Big Ten bid that never came, then gave in, holding its nose not so much over the Big 12 as having to realign with hated neighbor Brigham Young. People are also reading..
