Saturday, November 9, 2024 Passengers at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) can anticipate quicker processes and enhanced services as airport authorities undertake upgrades during the lower-travel period from November onward. Starting this week, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH will begin installing updated technology in Terminal 1’s security areas, mirroring the optimized screening lanes in Terminal 2. These lanes will feature advanced CT scanners, eliminating the need for passengers to remove liquids and electronics from their carry-on bags.
In addition, a new dining facility is under construction at the departure level, replacing the previous location of the airport information desk. “We are continually working to offer all passengers and visitors a comfortable and smooth travel experience at BER. The installation of CT scanners in Terminal 1 means the processes for travellers will be even simpler and faster in future,” explains Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH .
By spring 2025, the southern section of Terminal 1’s security area will be fully equipped with new CT scanners, with the northern section’s eight lanes expected to follow by autumn 2025. Initially, four lanes will close temporarily for upgrades. To minimize wait times, passengers are encouraged to check real-time waiting times on BER’s website, app, or onsite monitors.
Additionally, travelers can reserve free time slots for security checks at Terminal 1 t.
