Born on July 11, 1932, in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Elsie (nee: Pohl) Colvin. A proud graduate of Scotia High School, Class of 1950, Benita began her career at the First National Bank of Scotia.
Her work ethic and dedication soon led her to General Electric at Kesselring Milton, where she contributed her talents for six years. After taking time to raise and care for her family, Benita returned to KAPL, where she continued to work until her well-deserved retirement in August of 1992. Benita's life was rich with interests and activities.
An avid golf player, she found joy in the camaraderie and challenge of the game. Her love for bridge and curling kept her socially active and engaged, while her passion for photography allowed her to capture the beauty of the world around her. Benita had an appreciation for vintage cars and enjoyed attending shows at Proctors with her friends.
Her adventurous spirit was evident in her extensive travels with her first husband, Richard, including memorable trips across the country, the Adirondacks where they enjoyed time at the camp that they built by hand, to Hawaii, and the Caribbean Islands. Even after his passing, Benita continued to explore the globe, visiting Ireland, Wales, England, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand. Benita's commitment to her faith was unwavering.
