A Benidorm star has revealed the exact fee they received for just two minutes work on the show. Asa Elliott shot to fame for his role as the singer of the fictional Hotel Solana on the beloved ITV comedy. He made an appearance as a talent show hopeful but Madge Harvey, played by Sheila Reid, didn't hold back her true thoughts.

The character blasted his performance as "s***e." Despite Madge's reservations, Asa's character made a series of appearances on the show. He starred in series five and six and has now shared what his experience was like working on the hit show.

Fans have been submitting questions for Asa over what Benidorm was like, as well as asking the all important question - how much he was paid. Asa revealed the amount changed over time after he became a regular on the show. He remembered the very first episode he starred in was for the Christmas special in 2010.

Series writer and creator Derren Litten approached him with an offer before sending over a contract. The TV star wasn't with an agent at the time, and so Asa said "there was no negotiating". He claims casting producers told him it was either a yes or no answer for the part.

Asa was presented with £750 for the role. He said: "They flew me from Manchester, put me in a hotel [and] they did all the transfers, all the food. "I was filming for one day, it was two minutes worth of screen-time and I got £750 quid.

That was just a one-off contract, there was no royalties, no repeat fees, nothing like that. It was.
