Weather conditions in Benidorm were compared to Scotland on Wednesday (October 23) following a biblical downpour of rain. Local YouTuber ' Benidorm by Ana', who regularly posts updates from the popular holiday destination, shared a video showing the town under heavy rainfall . She said they had experienced "almost an entire week of rain" in just a few hours, adding: "It is morning time but it certainly looks like evening.
" Ana filmed local bar owners "trying their best" to shelter chairs and tables. "Something tells me all the open air terraces will be quite empty today," she said. She showed overflowing pipes spilling rainwater onto the paths and streets, and some "brave" tourists were seen in t-shirts and shorts - perhaps not having packed a raincoat - while locals like Ana were equipped with wellies and umbrellas.
She noted that umbrellas typically cost €5 (£4.16) in local shops, while raincoats can be bought for around €2 (£1.67).
Comparing the conditions there to here, Ana continued: "It is not a typical day in Benidorm whatsoever. This might be a typical day in Scotland, in Ireland, in the UK." She then headed to the beach, where there were "barely any people at all", but was surprised to see some early birds out for a morning run.
Ana reassured tourists that it was "not cold at all" despite the rain, and told people with holidays booked: "Don't panic! Even if it is raining you will still have plenty of things to do here in the region. A shopping day, spa and self.
