For several years back in the late 2000s and early 2010s, there were persistent rumors that Apple was making its own TV set (mostly stemming from analyst Gene Munster). It made sense after all—at the time, flat-screen TVs were attainable luxury items that fit well into Apple's media-focused products, including the relatively new Apple TV streaming box.
