BBC viewers were all saying the same thing on Monday night as Sherwood came to a dramatic end following the sudden death of Mickey Sparrow. During the penultimate episode, fans saw Ann Branson (Monica Dolan) fatally shoot Mickey (Philip Jackson) in the stomach, leaving his family hellbent on revenge. Now on the run attempting to flee the country, everyone was on the lookout for Ann, especially the newly widowed Daphne Sparrow (Lorraine Ashbourne).

After her son discovered that the murderer was hiding out in the Marshlands and told his mum, she raced to the area in a bid to get even. As the two women came face to face, both with weapons, Ann got one up on Daphne by shooting her in the arm which resulted in her dropping her gun. Making her walk to the lake, she told Daphne her family had used this place to get rid of many people during their life of crime, admitting Daphne would be the last.

However, as Rachel appeared telling Ann to drop her weapon, it allowed Daphne to fight for her life as the pair ended up in a tense scuffle. Breaking Ann's arm in the process, she dropped to the floor in agony as Daphne held the gun over her enemy, debating whether or not to kill her. Although in a twist, she decided to let her live as she told her: "You are alone, do you know that? Do you know how alone you are? "How do you think we found you? he's not coming.
