A series of BBC Radio 2 tribute shows to the late broadcaster Steve Wright are in the works (Image: BBC) BBC Radio 2 has announced a significant schedule shake-up as it prepares to air special tribute shows in memory of the late Steve Wright. The beloved DJ, who died in February at the age of 69 , will be honoured with three special programs later this month to coincide with what would have been his 70th birthday. Wright’s death, caused by a ruptured stomach ulcer, left fans and colleagues across the industry in shock.

On August 26th, the tributes will begin with Vernon Kay Presents Steve Wright Remembered, airing from 2pm to 4pm. This will be followed by What Steve Meant to Me..

. A Listeners' Special, hosted by Liza Tarbuck at 6pm, where listeners will have the opportunity to share their own personal memories of the iconic broadcaster. The tribute will conclude with Steve Wright In His Own Words, a reflective show featuring archive footage of Steve discussing his career, the broadcasters who inspired him, and playing some of his favourite records.
