The hard-hitting BBC crime drama Sherwood is back after a two year hiatus and this time promising to be even more epic than the first series. Previously, viewers were taken on a journey of a thrilling police investigation after a series of deaths shocked an old mining town, in what it to believed to be a very divided community after masses of jobs had virtually dried up. The second series continues to follow the same theme and is set in the present day.

A little bit like a Romeo and Juliet plot, two families are introduced but become entangled in local gangs, with old rivalries, revenge, and betrayal set to stir up new tensions. But, there's a new Sheriff in the Nottingham town, who brings about a new proposal for a mine in the area in hope of returning work to mining families who have been jobless and are in desperate need of prosperity. The BBC has dropped a brand new trailer for series two, made by House Productions, along with the announcement that Sherwood will be back on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in just days.

Much to fans delight, episode one will air on Sunday, 25 August with episode two following on Bank Holiday Monday, 26 August.
